13th Sunday after Pentecost

August 21st, 2021

Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,

Greetings on the 13th Sunday after Pentecost.

At a time when millions of Australians are experiencing lockdown, and/or the prospect of lockdown, and when we are witnessing the plight of so many people in and fleeing from Afghanistan, the pastoral sermon of the Dean in this pre-recorded Eucharist from St Paul’s Cathedral Sale offers us hope and comfort as we seek to care for one another and ourselves.

David Perryman kindly assists in front of and behind the camera, and the Registrar’s ministry of editing the attached file is appreciated as always.

As you make your spiritual communion from wherever you may be joining this act of worship, the following prayer may be helpful:

O Lord Jesus Christ, through your tender mercy grant that as the hem of your garment, touched in faith, healed the woman who could not touch your body, so the soul of this your servant may be healed by like faith in you, whom I cannot now sacramentally receive. In union with the faithful at every altar-table in your Church I desire to be united with you, and pray that you will come spiritually into my heart. Let nothing ever separate me from your love, for you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Grace and peace, +Richard
